Extension, Snowdonia National Park

Design concept for a small domestic extension in the Snowdonia National Park. The design proposals are that of a vertical timber clad extension with a zinc roof. The timber cladding provides an aesthetic complimentary to the surrounding rural environment whilst the grey colour of the zinc roof ties the extension into the vernacular architectures with a contemporary twist. The design balances the requirement to maximise the views of the mountains from the rear of the house with the need to maintain privacy within the dwelling through the use of vertical fins over the feature window obstructing the ability to see into the kitchen from outside. Rear access has been maintained with a rear door & side panel, with an adjacent vertical slot window
